September Pinterest Marketing Strategy Upgrade
The great time to get your Pinterest Marketing in order is September! Why that, and not January?
So, what's the answer? It's very simple! Usually, September is the month when all niches on Pinterest see a significant increase in traffic compared to summer (especially this year when people started traveling again and spending less time scrolling through social media)...
It's not necessarily a bad thing if you see your traffic drop in the last 3 months. In fact, for 90% of my clients, I have also noticed that, but this week things started growing again--WooHoo!!
When you want to get traffic back and even double it, the first step is making several changes. I call this upgrading your Pinterest marketing strategy."
STEP 1. Review your Pinterest account. Do you use all necessary keywords in your bio, board names, and description? Do you pin constantly to all your personal boards? Do you need to add a few extra boards for new products/topics or leave group boards that aren't bringing you any traffic? It might be also time to change your Pinterest account cover. Remember! This isn't a deep spring cleanup of your Pinterest account, but take a look at the basic things.
STEP 2. Create more fresh content, such as blog posts or new products. Pinterest encourages its users not only to constantly pinning but also to pin new URLs. New content always performs better on Pinterest than old content. Try to publish at least 1-2 new content every month.
STEP 3. Increase the number of pins. I understand that you probably spent less time on Pinterest during the summer and this is understandable, but September is the best time to put a little more effort and time into your account and it will bring you results.
STEP 4. Take advantage of the major national holidays we have ahead of us such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas, New Year, etc. It's time to create and pin holiday-related content, even for Christmas.
STEP 5. Utilize all pin formats, such as video pins and Idea Pins. Idea Pins are a hit on Pinterest right now, without them you can't improve your strategy! It is advisable to use a mobile phone to create and publish them. If you're an e-commerce business, it's worth considering investing in Pinterest ads, by keeping in mind holiday-related products.
STEP 6. Check out your top pins from the last year (September/October/November) and create more pins for the most popular ones. However, I do not recommend comparing 2021 and 2022 as the traffic will be completely different. Another good place for inspiration is the Pinterest Trends page.
STEP 7 Just put everything aside and think about what you would like to improve in your Pinterest strategy. Maybe use more professional images or prettier pin templates, or you just don't have the time to manage your account and need help.
